Why this made the list
Dolphin (made by Maytronics) is the name most in-ground pool owners already know, and for a lot of people that familiarity is worth something on its own. The CC Plus with Wi-Fi is Dolphin's mid-tier wall-climbing cleaner, app-controlled, plug-in, and built for pools up to 40 feet. It's a safe, well-supported default rather than the newest or most feature-packed thing Dolphin sells.
What it actually does
It's a corded, plug-in robot (not battery powered) that scrubs and vacuums the pool floor and climbs walls, with the MyDolphin Plus app handling scheduling and remote start over Wi-Fi. A typical cleaning cycle runs about two hours, and you can set it to run automatically every 24, 48, or 72 hours. Here's the real catch: this specific model does not clean the waterline, which is often the dirtiest, scummiest part of the pool. It also uses Dolphin's older Gen 1 filter cartridges rather than the finer NanoFilters found on newer Dolphin models, so it's less effective against very fine debris like algae and sand. If you want waterline cleaning or the finer filtration, you're looking at a different, pricier Dolphin model like the Cayman or ProLine.
Who this is actually for
An in-ground pool owner who wants a dependable, well-known brand handling floor and wall cleaning, and who either doesn't mind scrubbing the waterline by hand occasionally or wasn't expecting a robot to do it in the first place.
What to weigh before buying
- No waterline cleaning. This is the single biggest gap versus newer Dolphin models and some competitors, and it's easy to miss if you're just going by the brand name.
- Older-generation filters. It can't capture as fine a debris as Dolphin's current NanoFilter-equipped models, so very fine particles like algae and sand may get missed.
- It's corded, not cordless. You need a nearby outlet and you're dealing with a cable in the pool, which some owners find annoying to manage compared to cordless robots.
- Only a 1-year warranty, shorter than the 2-3 years some newer competitors and Dolphin's own current lineup offer.
The verdict
A reliable, familiar-name pool robot that handles floor and wall cleaning well, but skips the waterline and uses older filter tech. Fine if you know that going in and you're drawn to the Dolphin name; look at a newer model in the lineup if waterline cleaning matters to you.
